inJust lost $200 on a fabric order from a place called 'Silk Road Surplus'.
Laughing at myself for falling for the SAME trap last month. I ordered what looked like a nice heavy cotton twill for a coat and got something that felt and looked like a cheap tablecloth. @jennifer358 you're spot on about the lighting trick - they must have a special "magic lamp" that makes everything look 10x better than it really is. At least now I know to check the return policy BEFORE hitting buy, not after.

inFinally got our ticket response time under 24 hours
Our old rule was to handle project work before tickets. I argued for it for years. Seeing your numbers, I have to admit that was backwards. Making tickets the absolute first task of the day is the only thing that ever worked for us, too.

inMy attempt to build a floating shelf in my Phoenix apartment last month ended with a hole in the drywall and my cat staring at me.
Toggle bolts are the only thing that works in my 1950s plaster nightmare. I tried those plastic anchors first, total waste of money. The key is you need a drill bit that can actually get through the lath, otherwise you just make a bigger mess. I have a shelf holding my record player that's been up for two years now, no problem. Just make sure you get the bolt size right for the weight.

inVent: My dad's surprise visits during work hours are costing me clients.
My dad actually left after a weird pause, so the hint didn't land. Hernandez.jesse is right that family boundaries are tough, and that moment didn't really change much. He still calls during meetings, but now I just don't answer.

inFound a better way to trim silverskin from tenderloin
Honestly the knife type matters less than keeping it sharp. A dull boning knife is just a hassle, @emma_ramirez. I get clean strips off with a sharp chef's knife just fine.
