Back at the Griffith Observatory after a decade

The light pollution from LA is way worse now, I could barely make out Orion's belt with my own eyes. But the photo I took with my phone through their telescope still showed the nebula pretty clearly. Anyone else notice their old stargazing spots getting washed out?

Remember when you could see the Milky Way from a dark spot? I tried showing my nephew some stars from my old backyard spot last month. He asked if the "fuzzy cloud" was just my neighbor's bad wifi signal. I had to pull up a sky map on my phone to prove stars were actually up there.

Actually, you can still see the Milky Way from a truly dark spot, but those spots are getting harder to find.
