Parked my Miata 4 rows back at the Cars and Coffee in Riverside and finally got why nobody looks at my car
For about 8 months I showed up to the Riverside meet at 7am and parked right up front next to the Corvettes, and I could not figure out why nobody ever stopped to talk about my car. Last Saturday I got there late and had to park 4 rows back near the dumpsters, and like 6 people walked over to check it out in the first hour. Turns out the front row is all reserved by the regulars and everyone assumes those spots are taken by the same guys with the same cars each week. A guy named Ray with a clean NA told me the back rows are where people go to actually talk and look around. My car is nothing special, a 1997 with 141k miles and a dent in the door, but I had the best morning there all year. So where do you all park at your local meet, front row for the flex or back lot for the hangs?
The front row at the Riverside meet is honestly where cars go to die a slow death, you just stand there nodding at the same 3 guys all morning. Ray is right that the back rows are where the real car talk happens, but skipping the front row completely means you miss guys who actually know their stuff and just got there early out of habit. Park wherever you want, the spot does not make the car, the people standing around it do.
