Everyone says to buy the car with the best body, I did that and got burned on a $700 Corolla in Tempe
I passed on a $900 Civic with a dented door and a clean runner because the body was rough, and bought a straight looking $700 Corolla off a guy in Tempe that turned out to have a cracked head and a slipping trans within 3 weeks. The body was perfect and the drivetrain was junk, and I dumped another $400 in parts before I cut my losses and sold it for $500 as a roller. Does anyone else think the whole 'body first, engine later' rule is backwards for cheap cars, or did I just get unlucky?
