Found a 1998 state rulebook that says my $1,200 beater doesn't need a state safety check
I was digging through the DMV site for my county and found a page buried under "vehicle inspections" from 1998. Cars made before 1999 in my state only need a VIN check, no full safety look. That one line saved me about $85 on my $1,200 Ranger flip. Anyone else live in a state with weird old-car loopholes, and which one has the easiest rules?

Cars made before 1999 only need a VIN check sounds like the kind of loophole I'd find and then brag about for a week straight lol. Meanwhile I once paid more for an inspection than my whole car was worth, so you're winning. What state is this, cause my $800 Civic could use a break.
