TIL a guy at the auto auction in Dallas said my $1,200 cutoff was 'cute' and he wasn't wrong
Was standing next to this older dude at the auction lot on Jefferson last Saturday when he saw my bid sheet capped at $1,200. He laughed and mentioned he's been flipping beaters there for 11 years and never once got a runner under $1,800 after fees, tax, and the buyer premium. Made me realize I'd been pricing my flips off Facebook Marketplace listings and ignoring all the hidden costs that kill my margin. Now I'm rebuilding my whole spreadsheet from scratch, and I'm short about $400 per car from where I thought I was. How do y'all account for the auction fees and transport when you're working with a sub-2k budget?
