A mechanic in Reno showed me why my 2015 Jetta eats water pumps every 40k
Stopped at a shop off Virginia Street last spring because my third water pump in 80k miles started weeping, and the guy pulls the old one off the bench and points at the plastic impeller. He keeps a coffee can full of cracked ones from VWs, must have been 15 in there. He says the composite they switched to can't handle the heat cycles, and there's no fix except going aftermarket metal. Anyone found a pump that actually lasts past 60k in these things?
