Picked a 1998 Civic over a 2001 Focus for 2 grand

Back in 2016 I had 2k to throw at a beater in Portland. Went with the Civic with 180k miles instead of the Focus with 120k because everyone said the Focus had transmission issues. That little Honda got me through 4 years of work sites without a single major repair. Any of you regret passing on a car that turned out to be solid?

My buddy Mike passed on a 2002 Camry with 160k for 1,800 back in 2017 because he thought it was too boring. He went with a 2003 Mitsubishi Lancer instead and that thing ate through two alternators and a clutch in like a year. I still give him crap about it every time we grab a beer. The Camry would have probably run forever.
