That $800 brake job quote made me learn to do pads myself

Took my 2004 Civic into a shop near Tulsa for a squeal, they came back with an $800 quote for pads, rotors, and calipers. I laughed and left, bought a $45 socket set and $60 in parts online. Three hours in my driveway, bleeding the rear line twice, but it stopped the noise for good. Anyone else get quoted insane prices and just said forget it, I'll figure it out?
