Bought a $400 Miata with a blown head gasket, and day 3 was the best and worst day of the whole build
Found a 1995 Miata on a Facebook listing in Tacoma for $400, owner said it overheated on the highway and never started again. Got it home Saturday, pulled the head Sunday, and by Monday afternoon I had it running on 3 cylinders with a junkyard head I grabbed for $120. Tuesday morning it fired up clean, and I drove it around the block feeling like a genius. Then Tuesday night the rear brake line popped in my driveway and dumped fluid all over the concrete. So I went from hero to zero in about 8 hours. Has anyone else had a junkyard head bite them later, or did I just get lucky on the first start?

Fired up clean" fooled me too, until my junkyard head cracked 2 weeks later.
