Cash at the farmers market got me a free loaf of bread
Last Saturday I paid for some tomatoes with a twenty and the guy at the stall next to me had zero change. So I offered to just take less tomatoes, but he got all embarrassed and shoved a fresh sourdough loaf into my bag instead. He said, "Cash folks always make my day easier, the card machine was down anyway." That one moment made me feel like part of some little club, you know. I walked away with dinner and lunch for about $6 total. Has anyone else gotten a weird bonus just for handing over bills instead of plastic?
That "guy at the stall next to me" part is cute, but farmers market folks usually run their own stands, not each other's. Either way, glad you got bread out of it, cash is still king for a reason.
