Forgot my cash envelope at home, had to turn around mid-commute
Last Thursday I got all the way to the train platform on my way to work when I realized my rent envelope was still sitting on the kitchen counter. I had to sprint back two blocks, catch the later train, and explain to my boss why I was 20 minutes late. The funny thing is, if I had a card I could've just paid online, but I've been cash only for 6 months now and the habit of physically carrying rent money is still not automatic. Has anyone else had a close call like this where the system almost bit you, and what do you do to double check before you leave the house?

Left my whole wallet at home once and only noticed when the cashier asked for payment, stood there patting my pockets like an idiot. Now I do a little pat-down dance before I leave, keys, phone, cash, it's pathetic but it works.
