My backup envelope system fell apart at a flea market last Sunday
I keep a spare $60 in an envelope tucked in my car's visor for emergencies, and I had to use it when my wallet got soaked at the flea market in Trenton. The cash was fine, but my handwritten list of what was in there had faded, so I had no clue what I'd set aside for gas versus groceries. I stood there with damp bills and realized my whole cash organization relies on paper notes that smear. Now I'm testing a small vinyl sticker label on each envelope to track amounts without touching a card. Anyone else had their cash sorting system fail when you least expected it, or do you just keep one lump sum?
