My cash discount messed up a buddy's business records

I paid cash for a big order at my friend's new food truck to skip the card fees. Now he can't show bank statements to get a loan because cash sales don't leave a clear trail, and I feel like I did him wrong. Is it ever okay to use cash if it hurts someone trying to start out?

I mean, the whole "cash sales don't leave a clear trail" thing is kinda funny when you think about it. You wanted to help skip fees but basically turned his business into a ghost story for the bank. Maybe it's just me but that's like buying a guy a shovel and then wondering why he's in a hole. Next time just tell him to ring it up as a sale and you'll hand him the cash, so at least the paper trail exists. Idk, good intentions but oops.

My friend's store became a bank ghost story from cash sales!

Feel that gut punch when you try to help and it backfires. Saw a guy pay his whole contractor crew in cash to be nice, then the contractor couldn't prove his income for new tools. You wanted to save him fees, not cause a paperwork nightmare. It's a tough lesson that even good moves can have messy side effects.
