The ATM in Tyler ate my $40 deposit and I had to call the bank from the parking lot
I went to the drive thru ATM in Tyler last Friday to deposit $40 in cash I had set aside for rent, and the machine jammed and shut down without giving me a receipt. I stood there for a minute, then called the number on the back of my debit card even though I never use the card, just so I could file a dispute with the time and location. The rep told me to keep the $40 withdrawal slip I did get and wait 10 business days, which is a long time when you are living cash only. I ended up borrowing $40 from my neighbor to cover the gap and paid her back when the bank credited the money on day 8. Has anyone else had a cash deposit vanish at an ATM, and did the bank actually fix it or did you have to keep calling?
That "ate my $40 deposit" line got me, because the same thing happened to my cousin at a gas station ATM and the machine just printed a blank slip with no numbers on it. Took him almost two weeks to get it back, and he only won because he'd taken a photo of the screen with the time on it.
