Spent $200 on a fancy mandoline I never use now

Bought a stainless steel Benriner last year after seeing it on every chef's kit list. Used it exactly twice. The guard is clunky, I cut my thumb on cleanup the second time, and honestly my knife skills are faster for the volume I do. Anyone else have a pricey tool gathering dust in their locker?

Wait, haven't you just convinced me I was wrong about needing a fancy slicer?

A twenty dollar Kyocera ceramic slicer does the same job and won't rust if you forget to dry it. The guard is still annoying but at least you're not out two hundred bucks if you ditch it. Maybe that Benriner is really for people doing fifty pounds of potatoes at a time, not a Tuesday night stir fry.
