Spent 6 months perfecting a knife grip only to realize the real problem was my cutting board slipping

Put a damp paper towel under the board and now I'm actually consistent with my cuts, has anyone else found a simple fix that changed everything?

Six months on a knife grip? That's a lot of time for something that probably didn't matter that much. But hey, the paper towel trick is good, I guess.

Read somewhere that chefs spend way more time on basics like grip and knife angles than you'd think, lol. Paper towel trick is a solid shortcut though.
