Debate: should we push for polyurethane sealants or stick with silicone?
Old timer at the shop told me silicone seals last longer in wet chimneys but poly cleans up way easier. I had a job in Salem last month where silicone started peeling after two years. Which side do you lean on for residential work?

Sticking with silicone is smarter cause cheap fixes ALWAYS cost you double down the road.

Huh, I mean @xenan64 has a point. I tried using that cheap caulk from the hardware store once to fix a shower leak and it peeled off in like two months. Had to scrape everything out and start over with silicone anyway. So yeah, that extra ten bucks upfront would have saved me a whole afternoon of frustration.
