Just realized the 12 houses I cleaned last week had almost no soot compared to 2 years ago
I keep a log of every job and last week I cleaned 12 flues in my area and pulled maybe a cup of soot total from all of them. Back in 2022 that same route would fill half a bucket easy, and I blamed the wood at first. Then it hit me, most of my customers switched to those compressed sawdust bricks over the past couple winters. They burn hotter and cleaner so there is less creosote and ash left behind, which sounds great until you realize the glaze layer is what actually pays my bills. I still sweep the same 20 minutes per house but I am not finding the same problems anymore, so are you guys seeing this too or is it just my part of town?
