My spinbrush motor died mid-flue on a 3 story job in Austin
It gave up right as I was halfway up a tight liner on Tuesday, so I had to hand-scrape 15 feet of creosote with a wire brush and my shoulder is still sore, anyone else have a battery-powered unit fail at the worst possible moment and have a backup plan for the old school way?

Yeah I've been there too, and the trick is to always keep a spare battery on the charger in the truck, plus a corded drill with a chain flail as the emergency backup. @reese_patel is right that hand scraping builds character, but it doesn't have to wreck your whole week if you're ready for it. Next time the motor dies, just swap in the spare and save the wire brush for the tight spots only.

Quit acting like you got hit by a truck. You hand-scraped fifteen feet, big deal, that's what we all did before those fancy motors existed. Shoulder sore for a day or two means you got a decent workout, not a tragedy, so just ice it and move on.
