My worst week in 8 years started with a raccoon nest in a flue in Bellingham.
I had to cancel three jobs and spent 12 hours over two days carefully removing the family and cleaning up the mess, which really made me question the common advice to just cap a chimney and forget about it. Has anyone else found a better way to handle animal-proofing that doesn't just trap them inside?

Check the local wildlife rehab center, sometimes they'll loan out a one-way exclusion door for free. Lets the animals leave but not get back in.

Good idea, but animal control usually handles exclusions, not rehab centers. They might have a lead though, @rowan593.
