Can we talk about the creek behind my old school?

I walked past it yesterday for the first time in maybe five years, and it's totally clear now, not full of trash like before. The city put in a big rain garden upstream to filter street runoff, and it actually worked. Has anyone else seen a local project make a real difference like that?

My buddy's neighborhood had this gross drainage ditch that always smelled. They planted a bunch of native shrubs and reeds along the banks last fall, and now it's full of frogs and birds. It's crazy how fast it changed.

Honestly @evangarcia, sounds like a bug problem waiting to happen. All those plants just make a wet mess and give mosquitoes more places to live. Tbh I'd rather have a clean ditch.
