Had a neighbor yell at me for composting last weekend...
I was out turning my pile in the backyard when he stormed over saying I was 'attracting rats' to the block and making the place smell... I told him it helps reduce methane from landfills but he didn't care at all. Is there a way to get people who hate composting to see it as climate action or do you just give up?

Oh man I feel this so hard. @emmag40 is totally right about the garbage can smell being way worse. I told my own neighbor my pile was like my midlife crisis except cheaper than a sports car and he just walked away shaking his head. Keep doing you!

Oh man, my neighbor gave me the exact same lecture last month. I just shrugged and said my tomatoes were worth the risk of one or two rodents passing through. The smell thing is funny because my pile barely smells compared to the garbage cans people leave festering all week. Honestly I figure if someone is that mad about a compost bin they probably have too much time on their hands. You keep turning that pile and let the climate benefits speak for themselves.
