Heard a guy at the coffee shop say solar panels are just a tax scam

I wanted to jump in so bad but just sipped my drink and fumed - my panels in Denver have cut my electric bill from $180 to $40 a month over 2 years. Anyone else run into people who dismiss renewable energy without knowing the numbers?

Oh man, that's such a tired argument. My own setup in Phoenix dropped my summer bills way more than I expected. People just repeat what they hear without looking at real numbers or incentives.

Real numbers and incentives" hit the nail on the head. My neighbor in Tucson swore his solar panels paid for themselves in 4 years because he got some weird city rebate and a federal tax credit back in 2019. He said the paperwork was a nightmare though, spent three weekends on the phone with the power company sorting out net metering credits. Worth it in the end I guess, but he still jokes about the time they accidentally credited his account for negative 400 dollars.
