I stopped idling my car at my kid's school pickup line after a neighbor in Austin said one thing to me
I used to sit in the pickup line at my kid's school in Austin with the engine running for about 20 minutes every day, just to keep the AC going. A neighbor who teaches there mentioned that the line of cars idling outside pumps out more junk than most people realize, and it got stuck in my head. So I started shutting it off and rolling the windows down, even in the heat. It's been two weeks and honestly I don't miss the AC as much as I thought I would. Has anyone else tried this at their kid's school, and did you get pushback from other parents?

Did you end up parking further back so you're not sitting in the exhaust cloud from the cars ahead of you? I started doing the same thing last spring and a few parents grumbled at first, but once they saw my kid wasn't melting they mostly quit bugging me about it.
