Left my reusable bags at home again and got charged $0.25 per bag at the grocery store in Portland

I was running late after work last Tuesday and forgot to grab my cloth bags from the back seat. The cashier rang up 8 plastic bags before I even realized. Cost me an extra $2.00 for something I already own. I just stood there annoyed while she packed everything. Has anyone else had this happen and figured out a foolproof way to remember?

8 plastic bags in one trip" - wait, that's wild. I've left my bags home way too many times but I've never needed that many bags at once. You must have been feeding a small army or something. One trick I picked up is to put the reusable bags right on the driver's seat after I unload groceries. That way I literally cannot sit down without moving them first. Has that ever worked for you or do you have a better system?

That reminds me of the time I accidentally drove home with a bag of cat litter on my roof and it flew off somewhere on the highway. Do you think putting a sticky note on the steering wheel would help you remember?
