My city's new compost bins got delivered broken and it's a huge mess
Half the bins on my street had cracked lids from shipping, so now food waste is just sitting out. Should we push for replacements or just use our own containers until they fix it?

Our town had a similar rollout last year. I was ready to just use old buckets, but the broken bins attracted pests within days. We called the waste department as a group and they replaced everything in a week. It's worth making the call now before it gets worse.

Group calls just create more paperwork for an already strained system. Using your own buckets for a few weeks is a simple fix that avoids the hassle. The pests are a short term problem, and the city will get to it on their own schedule anyway.
