My cousin called my recycling habits 'wish-cycling' and it stung
She saw me tossing a greasy pizza box in the blue bin and said, 'That's just making the whole batch dirty, they'll throw it all out.' I looked it up and she was totally right. Now I rinse everything and check the city's list online before I toss anything. Has anyone else had a simple habit they had to unlearn?

My buddy did the same thing with plastic bags for years, swore they were recyclable. The look on his face when he found out was priceless.

Honestly, my local plant just incinerates most of it anyway. All that rinsing feels like a drop in the bucket compared to industrial waste.
