My heat pump install permit took 11 visits to city hall, not kidding
Swapped my own gas furnace for a heat pump back in June thinking I'd save on permits by doing it myself. The city inspector kept flagging the electrical disconnect placement, then the line set cover, then the pad height. Took 11 separate trips to the Portland permit office before they stamped it, each one a half day off work. I get that codes matter, but their own checklist contradicted itself between visits. Has anyone else dealt with permit offices that seem to add new rules each time you come back?

Ugh, that is brutal. Eleven trips is beyond ridiculous, especially when they can't even keep their own rules straight. My money's on the inspector just having a bad day every time you showed up.
