My neighborhood lost 4 big oak trees last week from a storm that should have been mild

I live in Raleigh and we had a thunderstorm last Tuesday that wasn't even that bad. But three years of drought before that weakened the roots. Three trees fell on houses and one crushed a car. Nobody talks about how dry summers make storms way more dangerous for older trees. Has anyone else seen more trees falling in your area after dry spells?

Three years of drought" same thing happened here. Roots just give up underground without rain.

Hearing you say that hits hard. It's brutal watching years of growth slowly fade because the ground just won't give anything back.
