That $150 portable solar panel was a total dud for my off-grid setup
Picked up a cheap folding solar panel from an online deal last spring. Brought it camping in the desert and it barely charged my phone after a full day in direct sun. Turns out the rated output was way overblown, like half of what they claimed. Has anyone else gotten burned by those budget solar kits or found a reliable brand under $300?

Wait, did you check if your charge controller actually matches the panel's voltage output? I found mismatched stuff caused way more loss than the cheap panel quality itself for me.

Nah @jason958, I've had mismatched gear work fine as long as the controller handles the voltage range.
