My buddy Dave laughed at me for using a torque wrench on lug nuts and said 'hand tight is fine'
Lost a wheel on the highway doing 65 last Tuesday because I took his advice for my winter tire swap and the nuts backed off, has anyone else had someone give them car advice that nearly got them killed?

Man so wait, Dave actually told you that after you already had a torque wrench in your hand? That's wild. What did he say when he found out your wheel came off, was he at least apologetic or did he double down on the "hand tight" thing? I gotta know if he finally realized how stupid that advice was or if he's still out there telling people to just "feel it"
Because honestly, the guy sounds like the type who thinks torque specs are just suggestions for people who don't know what they're doing. I've met a few of those DIY mechanics who think their forearm is calibrated better than a tool. How did you even react when he first laughed at you?

Did you read that study about torque specs being way more critical than people think, @dylan_rodriguez?
