TIL my gaming mouse battery died mid-tournament - 0.5 seconds cost me $200

I was in the finals of a local Street Fighter 6 tournament in Austin last Saturday, down to the last round, and my wireless mouse just cut out right as I went for the winning combo. The battery indicator had been showing 20% for like an hour, so I thought I was fine, you know? But nope, it just died completely, controller went dead, and I got absolutely bodied in that split second. I had a spare USB-C cable in my bag (thankfully), so I plugged it in right there on the stage - and I mean, the crowd was dead silent watching me fumble with it. The mouse came back to life after like 10 seconds, but the round was already over, and I lost the set 3-2. Has anyone else had a peripheral fail at the worst possible time and had to adapt on the fly?

Jeez, my buddy lost a Smash local because his controller just bricked mid-match.

Blame the lag, not the tech, cause wired controllers never just die like that.
