Tried to fix a 3 second lag on my router, took 11 hours and a trip to Micro Center
So my wifi kept dropping for like 3 seconds every hour and it was driving me nuts during ranked games. I figured it was the router so I reset it, updated firmware, moved it to a different spot in my apartment, and nothing worked. I called my ISP and the guy said my signal was fine, which made me even more confused. I ended up buying a new router at Micro Center for $130 and the problem was still there. Turns out my neighbor's baby monitor was on the same channel as my 2.4ghz band, and I only found that out after downloading a wifi analyzer app at 1am. Changed the channel to 11 and it's been perfect for a week now. Has anyone else chased a ghost like this and felt dumb after finding the real cause?
