Tried to fix a leaky faucet myself, 6 hours later I paid a plumber $180

I thought I could handle a slow drip under my kitchen sink last Saturday. Watched a 10 minute YouTube video and felt confident, but after 4 trips to Home Depot and a busted supply line, I finally gave up. The plumber had it done in 20 minutes and even laughed when I showed him the pile of parts on the floor. Has anyone else tried to DIY something simple that just snowballed into a disaster?

My proudest DIY moment was turning a 15 minute light switch swap into a full day of drywall repair and a mild electrical fire.
