Veteran operator told me I was wasting time with full retracts between every pass

He showed me how to set up a G91 incremental loop and it cut my cycle time by 40% on this one production run. Anybody else have a simple trick that made you feel dumb for not figuring it out sooner?

Heard the exact same thing from a buddy who runs a job shop. He was doing full retracts on a simple pocketing op, like 3/4 inch lifts between every pass on some aluminum parts. One of the old guys walked over, showed him how to use a G52 offset and drop the Z retract to like .05 above the part. Said it took his cycle from 12 minutes down to around 8. My buddy said he felt like an idiot for not thinking of it, especially since the part had zero interference issues.

Honestly I used to think retract height didn't matter that much but hearing how much time that saved totally changed my mind, ever seen similar savings from small tweaks like that?
