Can we talk about how I used to write code on paper first

I remember back in my first coding class in 2020, my teacher made us write every single line of code on paper before touching a computer. I thought it was dumb, but I stuck with it for like 6 months. Now I just open VS Code and start typing, tweaking as I go. Has anyone else found their old habits just don't work once you get into real projects?

For me it was drawing flowcharts on paper that helped. I'd sketch out how the data moves step by step before typing anything. It felt clunky at first but it saved me so much time debugging later. Do you still find yourself planning things out on paper sometimes or did you fully go digital?

God yeah, I had to do the same thing. Felt like such a waste of time but now I get it kind of.
