I finally saw the difference between tutorials and actually building

I spent 3 weeks watching JavaScript tutorials on YouTube and felt ready. Then I tried to make a simple to-do list app and froze on the first line. Actually building it from memory over a weekend taught me more than all those videos combined. Has anyone else hit that wall where you realize watching isn't practicing?

That "froze on the first line" part hit me right in the gut. We've all been there, it's like your brain just empties out the second you close the video. The to-do list is a classic trap, but honestly, finishing it from scratch is way more satisfying than any tutorial.
