My cousin in Dayton convinced me to skip tutorials and build a calculator first, and he was right
I spent 3 weeks bouncing between YouTube playlists and never finished one project. Then my cousin Rob in Dayton said to close the browser and build a tip calculator in plain JavaScript, ugly as it comes. Took me 2 hours and it ran on the first try, and something clicked about how functions and variables fit together. Now I'm wondering if that "build first, read later" thing works for everyone or if some folks really do need the tutorials.
