My coworker refused to use autocomplete while learning Python and I think she was right
Everyone in our little study group kept pushing her to turn on autocomplete in her editor, saying it would speed things up. She pushed back and said she wanted to type every function name herself until she could do it from memory first. I thought it was a waste of time at first, but watching her work changed my mind. Six weeks in, she was debugging her own loops without help while the rest of us were still guessing at syntax. Turns out typing stuff out on your own builds a kind of muscle memory that hitting tab just skips over. Now I'm the one turning autocomplete off for the first month of any new language. Does anyone else do this on purpose, or am I just making things harder for myself?
Yes, no autocomplete for the first month is the move. You learn where things live in your brain instead of letting the editor remember for you. It feels slow at first, then everything clicks way faster.
