Guy at the local roastery made me rethink my whole brewing setup

I was at Blue Bottle in Brooklyn last Saturday picking up a bag of their Rwanda, and this older guy next to me just said 'you're wasting your money on those expensive beans with a blade grinder.' He pointed at my bag and said I was grinding away all the flavor. He walked me over to his table and showed me his $150 Baratza Encore, saying it changed his coffee more than any fancy machine ever did. Has anyone else had a stranger call them out like that and actually end up being right?

Started laughing when I read this because that was literally me six months ago. Some stranger at a coffee shop told me my $20 Cuisinart blade grinder was basically turning my beans into dust and ruining my morning cup. I thought he was just being a snob, but then I looked up some videos on YouTube and realized he was dead right. The even crazier part is how fast a burr grinder changed everything for me, way more than buying better beans ever did. Now I'm the annoying guy who tells people to upgrade their grinder before anything else.
