My aunt's espresso machine hack from 1987 actually works better than my fancy new grinder
She told me to store my beans in a plain mason jar with a silica packet, I laughed at her for 3 months until I tried it. Now my shots pull way more even, has anyone else tried old school storage tricks like this?

Stuck my beans in a mason jar with one of those silica packs my aunt gave me from a shoe box. Felt ridiculous doing it but after a week the difference was CRAZY. My old beans tasted stale after a few days before that no matter what I did. She used to keep her coffee in a cupboard above the stove which everyone says is bad but the silica pack trick saved me. Been doing it for two years now and never buying another fancy container.

Wait, does that actually work? I tried it once but I think I used the wrong kind of silica pack because my beans just tasted like the inside of a new wallet. Might have to give it another shot though, I've been storing mine in a ziploc bag like an animal.
