Switched from a blade grinder to a burr grinder last month, total game changer for my morning pour over

I was getting inconsistent brews for like 6 months with my cheap blade grinder. The burr grinder gave me way better flavor control for $45 on Amazon, anyone else notice a huge difference switching over?

Wait, you keep a notebook for your grind settings? I'd argue that's actually the smartest thing you can do. That's not ridiculous at all. Most people just guess and hope for the best. I started doing something similar after I switched to a burr grinder too. I track the grind size, water temp, and brew time for each new bag of beans. It's saved me a ton of wasted coffee when I get a bag that needs a totally different setting than my usual one.

Oh man, "total game changer" is exactly how I felt. I had a blade grinder for years and just thought my coffee was supposed to taste like burnt dirt sometimes. The real moment for me was when I ground some beans for a friend and they asked if I had changed my coffee supplier because it tasted completely different. I hadn't, I just finally stopped pulverizing the beans into dust mixed with chunks. Now I get a little obsessive about grind size for different brew methods, I have like a notebook where I write down settings for each bag of beans. It's honestly kind of ridiculous how much better my mornings are with a consistent grind, even if my friends roll their eyes when I start talking about particle distribution.
