My big moment was failing a final exam I didn't even know was scheduled

I was in my dorm in Austin, completely spaced on the exam date because the professor only announced it in class, which I'd stopped attending. I found out when I checked my grade online and saw a zero. That was the push I needed to finally drop out and start looking for a real job. Anyone else have a single stupid moment that made the decision for them?

Wait, the professor only announced the exam date in class? That feels so unfair! What if you were sick that day? I had a teacher in high school who would do stuff like that, change the due date and only tell the people who showed up. It's a terrible way to run a class.
