Question about trade school vs. the 4 year degree I walked away from

Left a state school in Ohio after 2 years and $19k in loans, then did a 10 month electrical program at a tech school for $8k. The difference was simple: every class I took at the tech school had me doing the actual work with my hands by day 3, not just reading about it. Anyone else notice the hands on stuff stuck way better than the lecture halls?
