Got kicked out of a comic shop in Portland for saying the movie was better, and I'd do it again
Met this guy named Dale at a shop on SE Hawthorne about 2 years back when I said the Watchmen movie got the ending right and he went off for 10 straight minutes. He told me the squid was the only thing that mattered and that people like me were why comics stayed niche. But here's the thing, non readers I know finally got the story because of that film, and the shop sold out of the trade the next week. So which actually grows the hobby, gatekeeping or getting new folks in the door?
