Appreciation post: Cracked a new weld on a pier repair in Galveston

Got asked to do a tricky weld repair on a rusted piling near the jetty last Thursday. Managed to get a clean bead on the third try without surfacing for a breather. Any of you guys have a go-to trick for keeping your arc stable in choppy water?

Man that's a solid feeling right there when you lay down that bead and it just takes. Choppy water is the worst for arc stability, I swear you need three hands sometimes just to keep the rod where it needs to be. I've had luck flipping my stinger around and running a short whip motion real fast, kind of like a dabbing pattern but quicker, seems to help the puddle stay put when the swell is pushing you around. Also if you can get your lead wrapped around your leg just below the knee it takes some of the sway out of your arm, gives you a little anchor point. Good work getting it done on the third try without coming up, that's the kind of dive where you feel it in your shoulders the next day but it's totally worth it.

Tied my lead around my leg once, @noah415, ended up tripping myself into a crab pot.
