Changed my mind about those expensive dry gloves after a near miss

I always ran wet gloves because they were cheap, but last month I dropped $280 on a pair of Si-Techs after my hands went numb on a 45 minute job in 42 degree water. The warmth difference was night and day and I actually finished the dive without shaking. Has anyone else made the switch and found it worth it?

Oh wow, @kelly61, you totally nailed it with the Fahrenheit thing haha... I definitely meant 42 degrees Fahrenheit, not Celsius - can't imagine diving in bathwater! But yeah, I had almost the same experience as you two years ago. Went in on a pair of Si-Techs after a dive where my hands went so numb I couldn't even undo my own harness. The first dive with dry gloves was like rediscovering what warm actually feels like underwater... no more shaking through deco stops. I'll never go back to wet gloves for cold water, not even close.

Oh man, I gotta chime in here! Just a heads up - you probably mean 42 degree Fahrenheit right, not Celsius? Because 42 degrees Celsius water would be like a hot bath and you'd be sweating, not shivering lol. But yeah, I switched to dry gloves three years back after my first winter dive with a leaky wet glove. Night and day difference for sure. The warmth is crazy good, and I haven't had a single cold hand since.
