Found a weird trick for clearing silt masks underwater without coming up

I was working on a dock repair job down in Savannah, water was thick with stirred up silt. Couldn't see a thing after 10 minutes. My buddy told me to try a tiny squirt of dish soap inside the faceplate before sealing up. I tried it last Tuesday, just a drop wiped around. It actually kept the mask clear for almost 2 hours. Anyone else got a hack for zero-vis water that doesn't involve hauling a full scrub kit?

Spit in the mask works better than dish soap and doesn't sting your eyes.
