My first deep dive log was pure nonsense, now I do it different
Back when I started in the Gulf, I used to scribble my dive logs on waterproof paper with a grease pencil, just numbers and times. Total garbage for recall, I couldn't tell you what the bottom condition was like last Tuesday. Then I did a job off Port Fourchon where the supervisor needed details from three dives ago for a repair report, and I had nothing useful. Now I take 90 extra seconds after each surface interval and speak a quick voice memo into my phone, describing the current, visibility, and any weird angles on the structure. Has anyone else found a logging method that actually holds up when the client asks for specifics months later?
